There used to be an East Cowes sailing club (I dont know if its still there) and British Hovercraft/Westlands had their own club at one time.

Does Tamesis still have Ariel on one side and the BP sailing club on the other? With the youth sailing club opposite? Overlapping courses were always fun...

Not to mention the rowing 8s coming through, and the gin palaces whose helms have enjoyed liquid lunches.
