Well that should toughen them up...

Not intentionally!
Unfortunately the bright green moth with sheets of spray everywhere hurtling towards them at a touch below mach 10 then stacking a more-violent-than-average gybe right in the middle of them wasnt unoticed. Some laughed. Some looked on in amazement. One cried. ooopps!

haha! sounds fun!

i think we had 45 knot gusts coming thro as we were finishing on saturday, chimet and HISC wind thing agree so....

some amazing reaches tho (just 2 sailed them  ) then putting the kite up on the runs was fun!!! only prob with the weekend was it was handicap racing and us merlins didn't have a chance against the 420s, i dont think we beat many of them to the first windward mark and we are meant to be quicker than them!!! how i wish merlins could plane upwind like that...

anyhoo yeah an amazing sail, glad the mast is still in one piece! HISC is a top notch club, amazed they got in 4 good races!

i want another go!

I think you should show newcomers a bit more respect ... especially kids ...

Congestion around the start/finish line at our club is a big problem as the people new to racing don't know all the rules and have boat handling that is a bit iffy ... and they have reported being put off but "hooligans" in fast boats that whizz past at high speeds. No me I add ...

We have been developing course configurations to fix this but I'd be interested to hear how other clubs deal with this ...

i wossed out this weekend, i didnt want to break the boat before the nationals in 2 weeks. but the mainsheet block fell off on the road trailor as we were going to the club. the stupid fittings on the feva are all done up with alan keys and they dont come undone only round off in the hull, so we had to drill the mainsheet block thing out .

600 732, will call it Sticks and Stones when i get round to it.
Also International 14, 1318

Farmoor can get pretty congested on a sunday and decent wind bought out quite a few windsurfers as well as the racers and a stack of newbies. Coupled with this it was a club open day so though I wasnt racing and was keeping clear as much as I could finding my own bit of water to play in was not an option...
Dramatic capsizes happen a fair bit in my stage of learning to sail the moth especially when its as gusty as it was and one such capsize happening amongst newbs was unavoidable, if a little ammusing.
Most of them seemed to find it rather humorous as well... Unfortunately one rather uncomfortable looking lass didnt see the funny side and decided sailing might not be quite the right sport for her.
