You'll be joining "The Down-Trodden Classes" one day soon, so don't be too smug!

Getting dropped by Laser has given the 3000 class an opportunity to make some worthwhile changes that make the boat easier and better to sail, i.e. gnav, rear sheeting. These changes and other proposed changes such as the new sails, if carefully introduced, i.e. the class doesn't need an attack of bird flu (kestrel IV versus III) should keep people keen to sail what is a fun boat and keep the class strong. If Laser was still making the 3000 there wouldn't be these opportunities and the 3000 would have less of a future.

the vote on the new 3000 class rules to accommodate the V3000 is out at the moment, verdict due on 5th June

the V will be at Carsington with the proposed North sails: 29er cloth with black edging and batten pockets and a larger, battened jib ... demo's available (good opportunity for a plug)

when the time comes, i.e. sales drop below 40/year, will you be able to find a small builder to rotomould Vagos? (there isn't a 'tongue in cheek' emoticon)

BTW, it's excellent that you've got 20 Vagos out for your first open, a very good sign for the class, with a strong committee it could follow the L2000 success
