Anyone know what happened to the Eleven Plus dinghy - the last I remember of the Class Association was at a Dinghy Exhibition in the early 1980s. It was a very nice 11footer and certainly one of the fastest of the Heron/Gull/Mirror sized boats. It was also supposed to be easy to build from a kit (Tangeres built the kit and boats I think). I would be interested to hear if anyone has any plans for the boat or any other information. To many nice class boats have disapeared in the last few years it would be good to try to keep track of them in some way?

If you go to www.cvrda.org (the Classic and Vintage Racing Dinghy Association website) you will find infomation on all sorts of classes you may not have heard from for a while. I know the 11+ has been mentioned before on the forum, and a couple have come up for sale over the last year or so, so it might be worth posting something there and see what comes out of the woodwork. The 11+ was designed by Eric Parkin, and I suspect suffered through not being sponsored by a national newspaper, but, as you say, was the prettist of the small kit boats.

I think the Plus just died under the impact of the Mirror in the end. I'm suprised you remember a class association as recently as the early 80s actually, my memory is the class fading in the mid 70s. As you say, by far the nicest of that size of boat and definitely quicker than the others you mention. I picked up a Plus second hand a couple of years ago but it hasn't progressed out of the lockup.

I raced them extensively in the early 70s at Papercourt in Surrey: they were then an adopted class. I guess it shows how much things have chaanged that I recognise the exact equivalents of me and my mates who were Plus sailors back then in Island Barn's 29er fleet...
