just been watching some of the video of light wind sailing

Some interesting techniques with crew trapezing forwards off the front beam (presumably to lift the sterns out) upwind and then out on the leeward hull to fly the windward hull whne going downwind

I'm going to try these out on the vortex next time out in light wind and see what happens ........

I've tried doing the wild thing to fly the windward hull in a Vortex, and there are two issues. The first is the amount of heel you have to put on to lift the windward hull clear of the water, and the second and crucial one is that all your reactions are reversed. If you've got dialed into your brain that if the boat comes on top of you you push the tiller, and if it heels away from you you pull it, then steering from the lee side all this is reversed, so its very easy to steer the wrong way and end up with a boat on top of you.

I later wondered if the right way to get down the run might be to get right out on the wire and fly the *leeward* hull, so that the rig was over the weather hull. But with kites its maybe another matter.
