How far away is your local club? I'm getting hacked off with the drive to get to my current club & although the sailing itself is brilliant, the facilities are a bit ropey so I'm considering switching clubs.

However the biggest pond available is 45 miles which is further than I currently travel. But it's a much bigger & better equipped club.

Does anyone else take a similar trade off and is it worth the effort?

Not all chemicals are bad. Without chemicals such as hydrogen and
oxygen, for example, there would be no way to make water, a vital
ingredient in beer.

When I bought my first house I had the following criteria :

1, Must be able to get my car on the drive

2, Must be able to ge my Hurricane on the drive

3, Must be drivable distance from Grafham (Hitchin is about 30 miles from Grafham)

4, Must be commutable from London / close enough to the station

5, Must be able to afford it.

So I just went up the A1 from where my parents live (Digswell) until I found something .

I drive 25 miles to my club  when I'm at home and the same when i sail at uni. Fuel cost is the only issue when sailing 3 times a week  as the drive only takes about half an hour.

That's the Impreza
Everything's got a price... But creaming past thunder-stricken blue-rinsed grannies in their Vauxhall Nova is really worth it!!! The best part is when you can see them in the rear mirror, checking their speedometer! « I assure you, Gladys, this thing was working this morning....»

Yep, the Impreza can drink petrol at an alarming rate - and it gets very expensive as I run it on Optimax all the time....

But if I am being sensible and keep the revs below 3000 i can also average 35mpg - but what is the point of having a turbo car if you don't exercise the turbo !

I've also had it off the clock (on a German moterway) and the clock goes to 160MPH !!!!!!!  (but it was probably around 145mph as the clock overreads somewhat)

Oh Scoob, I know how you feel! I'm not in the same league as you (pushed my car to 125 once, and I'm sure it could go faster but I chickened out) but I love seeing those spotty teenagers in their souped-up Saxo trying to take me at the lights!!    I usually lose sight of them in my rear mirror after 20 seconds... (and the beauty is, my car looks very tame, an ordinary Pug 306... with a nice engine, ask Contender443 )

I can imagine a super-turbo charged Oppie, running on Optimax! It's when you lap the Laser4000 you know your in trouble!!
