So I'm quite enjoying my Sunday morning sojourns to Redoubt Laketesting the jolly old v twin, which of course is absurdly unsuitable for such a confined space, nor as it turns out is particularly quick in the light flurries that I've so far experienced.
Now on the sea we probably wouldn't even set a course in stuff like that, thereby missing out on what is nevertheless excellent fun and good practise imv. I had that perfectly demonstrated when this sunday their race officer didn't show, so I volunteered. Even in those conditions, the line was packed at the gun not a line shy one amongst them, contrast that to our starts where the gun will go, they'd talk amongst themselves for a bit then set off, at least they did before us windsurfers came along and explained what should happen at the start of a race. So I've decided I want a little lake boat as well and I'll leave it down there, that is if I don't go and get some crazy notion to re-invent what they should be about, although I noticed on Sunday some chap with a great chicken headed sail on top of a laser was playing havoc with the lads in the Merlin even with their triangle kite of total weirdness. So I'm wondering about what I should get, I like the look of the Solution but you don't see many of them S/H and they're still a bit eye watering price wise for a bit of lake bashing on the odd occasion when we're either blown or calmed off which is more frequent than I would like. Streakers and Solos are out just because they are Streakers or Solos and when I cut myself I notice the blood that comes out is still red. I'm 67 kgs , thinking maybe Supernova, what other single handed stuff at not bank breaking rates and with a degree of late 20th century if not 21st century thinking about them. Dare I think about sailings answer to Thomas Crapper? Would a Knee Breaker work with my windsurf rig on it? Would the Farr 3.7 work in zephyr like conditions? What's a Lightning like? What's that other boat that's like a lightning only isn't one.. Whatever you suggest it has to be capable of out mincing a Merlin and a Laser with a Cock on the Sail. You can find a bargain Europe nowadays and they're about perfect for your size & target sailing area IMO

mincing a merlin... tricky from a small sit down jobby.
Oh, you mean an old knackered merlin that doesn't benefit from the standard deviation of the ridiculously generous RYA number... No hesitation in my response then: RS300 B Rig, switch down to A Rig if it's F3+ 1,000 PY and it'll go to it too. For less technical, just sail... Supernova. Both boats you're theoretically on the light side for, but that'll just mean you've chosen wisely for your target sailing.

A non-foiling moth might be cost effective.
Blaze? Faster than a Merlin in light airs is a big ask. Not that many singlehanders of PY <1000 I'd want to sail on a small lake. I grew up (sort of!) sailing on a river with shrubbery all along the banks, in light air a tall rig was key, the singlehander of choice was the British Moth. I'm guessing you won't like it? They have a tall rig and tack on a groat, also roll tack well with no wind. In a breeze I'd rather have a solo. |

Pictures chaps, need pictures as you would a child with limited I.Q....
KI ? K1 too new and expensive, the bread knife would require another kitchen like she did for the V twin and I just can't cope, got the revenue on my case already for the last go round, had to spread-eagle on the floor the other day, they send round semi attractive wimmen, to 'get' you.

GRF's got money so I reckon a Rooster Streaker would do it, a Lipstick class that hasn't been clobbered. |

I'm sure whatever you choose, you'll have no problem out-mincing all the competition...
On a serious note, a Europe was my first thought too (nice and light, high-tech rig to play with). A British Moth would be another option, but may be seen as a bit 'pipe-and-slippers' by GRF. Although if you squint it doesn't look a millions miles away from a certain scow-ish fronted monstrosity...

IIRC rig on a Europe is very low aspect, so loses power if you get close to the banks. If your lake is exposed and the wind is good down to ground level that would be different IMHO.
