Right now then guys i have been thinking its time for me to take on something different so your suggestions would be be good
1, my weight is 95 kgs
2, 6ft 3in
3, i have now sailed most boats either trapeze or hiking dont mind either but feel in more control hiking ( well sort off )
4, So what next i really dont fancy the 100 it does just not float my boat
5, So it has to be challenge for me or i will get bored
6, Budget would be for what i get for my current boat about 4 k i think ish
7, single handed would be good but i am usless at setting masts and rigging up without help cant quite understand how it all works ( i just want to sail not worry about set up )
8, i have had the 300 great boat got the hang of it after a few weeks !
9, ideas and comments  on what to do next would be good ????
10, Do i stay put in the vareo and enjoy club racing with eight others or try something different ?

Andy,

I haven't sailed either of these but they've always looked interesting and seem to have some really good fleet racing......how about a Finn or a Contender. The Finn is very 'tweaky' and there's lots of adjustments to master but it does look a very satisfying and rewarding boat to sail. The Contender just looks really good fun and there's some brilliant inspiration clips of them sailing on Youtube......but hey, what do I know ? - lol

Cheers,

Nigel

There aren't many boats which will keep you challenged without tewaking. My suggestion would be the International Canoe.

Finn or musto skiff.
Buy a Finn, train all winter then enter the Sail for Gold regatta next year.  If you want a challenge in sailing, that's where it's going to be.

Much as I love the canoes I think you do need a good understanding of what's going on unless you are prepared to spend serious cash on one of Razorbacks seriously beautiful, seriously sorted but have to pay for what you get new boats. Very easy to pick up an old one which isn't quite set up right anymore and end up struggling.

Jim,
I see what you are saying, but he could pick up a boat for £4k, Charlie has a pretty old AC and he seems to do OK in it.
