Difficult to know. They'll swim a lot, that's a given, but then the good cherub sailors aren't exactly unaquainted with the underside of the hull whilst on the water (in common with most high performance- yes graeme, it IS HP- boats) so it depends how much pain they're willing to put up with.

Okay. So you think his level of past experience and that of his crew/helm (They're not sure who's who yet) makes a cherub attainable? |

Lets put it this way: if they don't cope its unlikely to be lack of weight...

Okay, I'll tell him to come and have a chat with the guys on the cherub forum :) He weighs around 10 stone, and the person he will be sailing with is around 8 stone. Would you say that with him coming from Laser 2 sailing, and the other person coming from RS 500 sailing they would be able to cope okay?

It all depends on which boat you buy and how it is set up. Competitive crew weights range from around 18 - 24 stone.
Which boat is your friend looking at, and how light are they? As Al has suggested, get them to come on over to www.uk-cherub.org and say hello on the forum! |

Ive sailed the Daemon with a 12 stone guy and im only 10 and we were pretty much bang on weight. So id say go below 20 and you will be overpowered. 18 may be pushing it, but its definitely a lightweights boat.

They're mainly sailed by midgets
![]() Seriously, if they're old enough to be spending their own money on a boat, there's unlikely to be a problem with too little weight. But I'd go find the Cherub forum and ask there for a more knowledgable answer.

What would you guys say the minimum crew weight for a cherub was? A friend is considering purchasing one, and he wants to know. Thank you :)
