I make no apologies for the geekiness of my spare time interests. Having the Y&Y database of classes to play with, and the ability to graph this automatically, I can't help myself...

My first offering is to help manufacturers identify a gap in the market when dreaming of new boats to invent. Each dot represents a different class:

Look at that! An obvious niche or two to exploit...

If you're wondering why there is a red dot outside the left circle, it is for the Access dinghy, where you don't move your body weight.
Doubtless you will enjoy pointing out my mistakes, so I will make no assurances of accuracy or apologies for errors!

I think the bit in the middle where they overlap contains the symmetric Trap/hikers like the Furball, 505 and of course the L2.

so a twin trap symmy is called for....or even a single hand trap symmy, now that would be fun

.....the symmy ain't dead it's just taking a rest

Yes, it's a Venn diagram. A bit nerdy (or reminiscent of 3rd year primary school) but it is becoming popular on many Internet humour sites...

Whats the two man, single trapeze boat with no kite?

Edit to add: The geek in me thinks that is a great way to represent all that info in one diagram.

Edit again: Have you counted the 100 as two classes?  I can't think what else the 4th dot is?

If you mean the assy/hiking singlehanders, I'm counting: RS100, D-One, Vareo and Canoe (though two of those kites count as optional, I know).

Where have you placed the Vago in this?  For some it is a doublehanded, single trap assy, for others it is a trapezing single-handed assy.
the same, but different...
