Laser 3000 vs Buzz vs 29er

Handicap situation is quite clear now:-

PY Number 1032 as published in the 2010 RYA PY Handicap List
Class recommended PN for Vandercraft-hulled boats: 1007
Local arrangements can also operate (eg. Wilsonian, Hythe).

And as for "...it's not really an advantage if everyone else stays on the beach, is it?"..... well, all I'll say is, I would far rather be in the company of a few in a decent breeze, than a crowd in a drifter. You're welcome to that.

Bexhill and Wilsonian reckon 985 as well...

We had a look at the V3000 a couple of years ago, I was impressed. One of the reasons for not getting one was the disagreement over the PY........Those "in the know" wouldn't commit themselves and were suitably vague in a "dum dee dum lets talk about the weather" sort of way, or so it seemed............It was obviously faster than the old L2 by a long way. I concluded that it would cause more grief than it was worth in club races.

An advantage shared by the L2.....ecxept it's not really an advantage if everyone else stays on the beach, is it?

...Is there any agreement on the V3000 handicap yet?

There is one significant advantage with the 3000 (Laser or Vandercraft), in that it comes into its own in stronger winds, while those who condemn it as being underpowered sit ashore & refine their excuses for not launching!
