The contenders are: Jessica Ennis Jenson Button Mark Cavendish Tom Daley Ryan Giggs Andy Murray David Haye Phillips Idowu Beth Tweddle Andrew Strauss More info at: BBC Sports Personality 2009 Personally I shall not be backing Tom Daley, because I myself have done many spectacular dives and without all the training he gets... My vote goes to little Jessica Ennis. |

No Paul Goodison, then?! How come 9 times out of 10 it is won by someone with the personality of a turnip? I guess the trouble is, to get to the top in sport, you sacrefice a social life, and so loose the ability to interact with the rest of the human race. Once sports people retire, they seem to get more interesting in interviews. |

Murray for me. I'm a big fan of Strauss, but Murray's success has been exceptional. He's just head and shoulders above any other British player.
