Junior Classes

   Does anyone know the ideal or maximum crew weights for the Optimist, Topper, Mirror & Laser 4.7m?

What class would you recommend for a lightweight who is too tall for the Oppy but dislikes the Topper?

	i just know the maximum weight for optimists it´s 45kg and the 4.7 it´s about 60 the minimum. would love to help you with the other classes but we don´t have mirrors and toppers in germany.

	I have to strongly disagree that the minimum weight for the 4.7 is 60KGs. If your lightweight is closer to 50 KGs than 40 and dislikes the Topper I would recommend the 4.7. Although the hull is longer than the Topper the sail area is actually much less!

	The crew weighs 42kgs & growing fast - would a Topper be best? We hope to try a 4.7 shortly.

	i´m weighing 54kg and always had a few problems in the 4.7 when it became windier. so just a statement from experience.

	I would try the 4.7 assuming you have the power to pull it out the water and sheet the main etc. If necessary you can always spill wind or wind a couple of turns round the mast (or just watch from the club) on those big wind days.

	Yeah thats true but if you cant control a boat in heavier weather i don't think it is the right choice for you really. I would go for the Topper because it now has the option of smaller main aswell,,,,,,,,,,i realise you said that you didnt like it so you could go for splash?

	i left oppies at 50kg and went straight into 4.7s with no problems
