Subaru told me yesterday that the car is NOT IN the cap guide as they are specials.  only 500 made and these cars went via Prodrive for enhancement, but still with full Subaru network support.

Their advice was that in the past, as the network cannot provide market data(hence why not in CAP), the insurance companies simply negotiate.

Last time I went head to head with an Inso co they offered me X.

After I presented them with the state of the REAL market, adverts etc and after much negotiation, they round to my wak of thinking and upped their offer by 20%.

I've worked in the market in the past for about 10 years and know how it operates.

You, as yopu state, will never get them to pay dealer markup; I'm not interested in that; dealers operate ina  world of their own.

Much better to present a carefully argued case and they, in my experiece, will see the error of their ways.

Edit to add; can you give me the number for CAP, I'll ring them on Monday to check what Subaru said is correct.

I have been FSA credited amongst other things and unfortunately unless you pay a specialist insurer they wont care how many Subaru type uk's etc have been sold or change hands you will only get a trade price for your vehicle.  How can an insurance company be held accountable for how many vehicles the manufacturer sold of that type?

Trade price is the price THEY CAN source a car.  If they do not play ball I will use the same method I did when I had a car stolen.  OK, Find me a car and replace it.

Usually gets them in the mood.

I was told by Subaru dealer that the Car is not in CAP.

Yes.

That then focusses THEIR mind on the problem.

They will struggle to find one of similar age, with similar low miles and in mint condition.

pricing it is going to be "interesting".  Glasses do price it, but it's not accurate as only a handfull change hands every year (only 500 ever made).

Have already collated all the adverts I can find currently and we'll see.
