Is there no "Elephant Graveyard" sort of place that Osprey sailors could go
and quietly lie down and do the 'decent thing' in a sort of Dignitas spirit?

Somewhere in Switzerland maybe?

One final Osprey Worlds.

What's that lake next to St Moritz called?

Could be a wonderful event.

The last worlds for the Osprey with the added bonus of a bit of
recreational suicide thrown in.

Then...

Maybe get some Aliens to transport the remaining hulks far away to the
Planet 'Boring boats r us'

Could be a solution to help clean up sailing?

What's wrong with the Osprey?

They seemed to be going very nicely upwind in the Round Sheppey. Surely if you are going to get a drift-downwind boat you may as well get a classic rather than a plastic replica that has pretty much the same performance. Isn't boringness relative? For example you could say that any single trapeze boat with a kite less than 23sqm or that doesn't throw you out if you sail like a numpty is boring.

If people want to sail slow boats that is their choice in the same way that some people like to sail cats or strange as it may seem a few individuals even like windsurfing!

Happy new year Grumph, nice to see you back stimulating reasoned discussion.

Osprey Worlds - sponsored by Dignitas - assisted suicide vouchers for prizes perhaps?

There was a rather fast Osprey at AW on New Years Day, along with the rather fast AltO. Is it just me or is the AltO now a Five-Oh morphing into an L4K?

Yep Happy New Year One and All (Even Cat 'n Osprey riders)

Someone had to be the brunt of it, a pretty boring couple of weeks, with
a light gusty cross off wind that wouldn't keep a kite flying, or the
solitary Bic 283 planing and the only alternate being a passenger on a
Hobie (they don't let you Helm, far too difficult for tourists and of course
they run the risk of the residents shooting off to Florida and political
asylum (I went back to Cuba)).

But I'm nicely rested thanks for asking.

Trying to put the finishing touches to my Boards V Single handers
Handicap challenge to suggest to our club for next seasons Tuesday
Night series to spice it up a bit.

I'm going to defend the osprey on this one. Only because I've helmed one
for a race and absolutely loved it. As I remember, it felt smooth upwind and
through the tacks and sailed like the elegant lady that it is.
I'd happily helm an osprey.
