We are developing an online sailing game using real weather and real boat performance, you can try it out now for free to help us get any bugs in the software sorted or have a look and give us your feedback.
Thanks its at sailonline.org

Similar but better! it has faster updates and real high definition grib weather, you also sail using a real boat polar diagram so you make decisions on sailing to a wind angle for best VMG upwind or downwind. It has details built in that drop the performance as you tack, it then builds up again as the boat accelerates, so more tacking slows you down.

You also get to look at the weather for 3 days, and can zoom in to see wind strength, pressure lines or wind arrows. Grounding again has a touch of realism as it knocks your performance back for several hours, before it slowly climbs to 100%

You don't get to choose sails, but the boat sails as it would at the sail angle you choose. You can put delayed commands in and measure on chart distances and bearings. Try it and give us some feed back, race started yesterday at 1800 from Plymouth outside Ireland to Scotland, or there is a round Gotland speed challenge, just pick your weather and go.

The easiest to jump in and play is Tacticat.
Scroll down the page and click on one of the fields- (L2-euro for example)
