Hi Guys,
To save wear and tear on my kites i was wondering if it would be possible to increase the overall girth of the sock? I just thought about reducing friction in the system and was wondering about increasing size intetnally. Would it have any bad effects at all?
Thanks,
Alex

Definatly needs something to get rid of the friction. You have to have arms of steal to get the kite up and down.

Is the mouth of the chute big enough?

Get a bottle of McLube and attack the inside of the chute with it ... Might make a difference

You're probably just as well off going through all your kite system and lubing the blocks and also looking to make sure that all the blocks run freely when under tension. If you have a one string system like ours then there are a lot of blocks running through the boat and just having one bad one will make a huge difference. You might even have to alter the location of some of the blocks to make them run smoother but it will be worth it!

If you have no probs then why bother changing it?

Ive been thinking about kite socks quite a bit recently and the only disadvantage I can see to having a masuuuve kite sock is taking up more room in the cockpit.

Im going with a bit of a different solution to kite storage... Il post some pics If I get time to finish it before the nationals

One other thing you could do is try using Holmenkol Seal'n'Glide on the kite - I found it makes a big difference.  You can also use the remainder on the sock which lasts a lot longer than Mclube.
