Which other class of boat would do well to have a new sail/mast made by somebody else and start a new class?

Some ideas

RS200 with bigger spinny, very easy to do.

Solo, lighter mast and semi battened sail

Enterprise?

Laser2000 with bigger sails

GP14 bigger spinny

Laser with C2 style rig and new rudder

Musto Skiff / RS700 with a Symetric kite?

Definatley a bigger rudder on a Laser

Hydrofoils on a Vortex? Even just on the rudder would be fun, and would stop the nose diving.

A few 1-off boats ... Carbon Laser,  Lightweight Laser 5000,  mast-head kite and a Genoa on a Feva?

Ooooh .. Mast head kite on a Vareo - But I'm doing that this summer anyway

I seem to remember the asymmetric on the Fireball was tried, and it was terrible compared to both a normal Fireball and a boat designed for an Asymmetric. I'd like to see hydrofoils on an Oppie and a rotomoulded 49er. Oh, and while we are about it, a carbonfibre Pico with a 7m2 full battened mainsail and wings.

I like Martin 555 being completely stumped about ideas for the Enterprise, but cannot work out if this is because he thinks it is perfect or beyond redemption!

Enterprise? beyond redemption  but perhaps new rig, gnav etc.

Like all this crazy ideas but was thinking more about once popular/still popular SMOD/OD made into a new successful class.

Didn't think the asymmetric Fireball was terrible, just very quick or very slow compared to a standard Fireball depending on the course. I'm not sure how much serious development work was done.

I reckon a Fireball 'A' would be great (& bring back the chute), especially if you unleashed Winder with a lower weight limit. The hull shape must be one of the most efficient of all on the plane.

Shorter mainsail foot/boom (sailmakers have asked for this for years) and an extra full-width batten at the top of the sail.

Maybe much-reduce the sidetank volume too, to improve ease of righting.

Mmm, I'm starting to want one now...

For many of the boats mentioned, it is worth considering that "you can't polish a turd".

Controversial
