I note that the Musto skiff has just become a recognised class and theFeva an International Class. Every previous British SMOD other than the Feva since the 80s that has got recognised status has promptly collapsed, so lets hope the Musto Skiff can break the run... although as it wan't British designed maybe it doesn't count for the curse!

Jim,

Well spotted ... the class has worked hard to achieve this and this is a key stepping stone to further growth of the class internationaly.

We have boats in 17 contries and look forward to our first proper worlds in Garda next year where we expect 80+ boats.

In the past ISAF status was granted without numbers and some classes got ISAF status on very small fleets which then faded; now to achieve ISAF recognised status you need fleets (>20 boats) in 4 countries so only classes that have already reached a certain size will get ISAF status.

We are here for the long run and we hope to be back at next years conference for full international status.

Also ... whilst there were many key british contributors to the Musto Skiff development as you point out it was an international effort.

Thanks Hector ...

I suspect if you fancy doing Garda you'll have to make a wise investment ...  it's going to be a great event.

I'm guessing there are good fleets in Germany and on the Swiss lakes? An excellent boat that throughly deserves to be a big sucess, even if I am to cowardly to sail one!

And well done the Feva, too! Much maligned on this site, but it is a hell of a lot better than its rival plastic boats.

Nice one - are you getting a new one?

If you want to go to Garda make sure you book a trailer space ...
