Holiday Weeks

Family Holiday weeks such as Fed Week, Abersoch Dinghy Week…etc are always well attended for many reasons: the family inclusion at these events, which isn’t always present at a nationals; the fact that you can go and race against your friends that sail a different class of boat to you. Socially these weeks tend to better many nationals in my opinion.

To a similar extent the same applies to the big winter events Tiger Trophy, Grafam GP, Bloody Mary, but many are put off by the cold.

The success of these events hinges on good weather: minimal snow at the winter events and lots of sunshine (+ wind) at the summer events to keep the wife happy and to encourage everyone out on to the water…

Wouldn’t it be fun if there was a week long handicap event (maybe assy fleet, single handers, and an Olympic course for other 2 man boats) organised at Garda??

Would allow those that are keen ‘but don’t sail the required class’ a chance to go and sail abroad at one of the worlds greatest sailing venues as well as groups of friends sailing differing classes, and think of the party! I’m thinking of an event that would be great fun with lots of partying, combined with awesome sailing but also fun for the non-sailing family members.
