After a few ideas here.....

I've currently got an RS400, and to be honest it scares the other half at anything over a force 3 as she's simply not big or strong enough to keep the front end under control, especially with my erratic helming! So, it's been decided to get something a little eaisier to manage. I'm thinking of an RS200 as we can lose the weight we put on to get to the bottom RS400 limit of 23st and be mid table at 21st.

But..... what other dingies are there out there. We are certainly not looking for anything more difficult than the 400 and certainly less powerful.

And if there was anyone who wanted to change from thier 200 to a 400, then please get in touch and maybe we could work something out!

Theres a whole range of boats!  Laser 2000, heavy so its as stable as a mountain, theres no way your lady will get nervous in this.
GP14, conventional kite but good circuit and not much quicker than a radial.
Or a taser, great boats, stable, good speed, but no kite.

I'd be looking at a Merlin Rocket. The Daddy of the 400.

The asymetric spinni is much easier to handle in a blow (even more so with ratchet blocks fitted). With the one string raking system they are super easy to depower and at 21 stone you would be the ideal weight.

There are some very reasonably priced plastic Winder boats on the merlin website second hand list ( around the £5500 mark).

It is surely worth a thought anyway.

Depending on how experienced she is it may be a good idea to go for the 200 as she will be used to the kite etc. Though I believe the jib system is a bit different (if I remember correctly) but Ifind the 200 one easier. The 200 can still be good fun in the med to heavy stuff but is no where near as stupidly powerful as the 400 - the added advantage for a 'nervous' crew is that as the boat is narrower it is easier to stay in one place as you can always grab hold of one side (something I realy didnt like in the 400

Is swapping the wife something you'd consider?

Tasar - much quicker than a 200, very stable, simple and exciting.

When I got one I sailed with a girl who'd hardly sailed before and she was fine.

Nice and light to pull around off the water too.

Easy as an Enter[prise but much faster.

Hmmm, no Tasers or GP14's for sale, so that leaves the Merlin and the 200. The Merlin is too technical for me, I'm much more a turn up and race type person (got too many other toys to phaff around with!), where as the 2000 is sooo slow I think I'll fall asleep on the back, although there are some good ones about at decent prices.... so I'm guessing that the 200 is the one.

Turn Turrte - check PM

Strawberry, I have to direct the other half to this link later, so no, but good idea!
