No. It's the RYA.

Thanks, thats just about cleared up.

One more question - in part c, is "an ISAF member national authority" the class association for an ISAF sanctioned boat?

RRS 75. MNA = RYA in the UK.

75 ENTERING A RACE

75.1 To enter a race, a boat shall comply with the requirements of the

organizing authority of the race. She shall be entered by

(a) a member of a club or other organization affiliated to an ISAF

member national authority,

(b) such a club or organization, or

(c) a member of an ISAF member national authority.

So is this an RYA law or something from ISAF?

Last time I did a championship all that was required in the sailing instructions was that both the helm and crew were a member of a national class association. I presume the club rule is something more general?

Not an urban myth. You need to be a member of either an RYA-affiliated club or a personal member of the RYA. The latter is likely to be cheaper if you don't want to belong to a club.

Can anybody out there clarify the rules regarding having to be a member of a sailing club to compete at opens / nationals / europeans / worlds.

Is it just an urban myth, or do you need to be a member somewhere to sail at events?
