It is legal. In over 10kts they can do what they want in terms of rocking, pumping and ooching so not a problem at all to do!

They have international jury who police it. One of the British lads in the laser just got penalised for it in his medal race, which cost him bronze overall.

That is one point of view GRF, but I have had non-sailing friends ask me about sailing events they had seen on the TV and although they didn't quite understand the in's and out's of it, loved the Finn medal race in 2012 where Ben A sailed Jonas back through the fleet and put a boat inbetween the two of them to take the win.

Quality footage and exposure on national platforms HAS to be better than no publicity

And of course it's completely legal and never frowned on, unlike those less hypocritical windsurf racers that just put their hands up said it couldn't be policed and legalised it.

I think Hypocrisy is the one sailing term I've come to live and deal with in this holier than thou sailing world.

As for watching that, I never even knew it was happening and probably nor did the half a dozen or so folk who were out sailing last night and provided excellent entertainment for me in the rescue boat in a bit of a squally shifty westerly.

My point? Sailing has never nor ever will be a spectator sport for anyone other than those of us who would much prefer doing rather than watching anyway.. a lost cause and waste of time and money trying to do different.

Yes they were... It is the pumping technique to get the leech panting, while keeping the boat as flat as possible and helps get the boat up to speed out of a tack or off the start line.

Andy Barker used to do that when crewing for Lawrie Smith in Fireballs.

Now that is a recollection from 'back in the day'

It would be brutal, just thought the commentator said it was UFD.

Think he just go mixed up saying they were out of the race here at 1h30m16s

Freezing at 1 second to go both Brit boats look over, but the race team is only calling Slovenia. Commentator then says after brits have come back that neither of them needed to.

Edit: I see they eave the starting rule flag flying forward so you know what rule it is even after the start/1 minute gun, didn't notice that when watching.

No, normal P flag.

UFD or black would be brutal for a Medal race that you cannot discard! Also with 10 boats surely the PRO can tell who is over.

Gutting at the start.

I didn't catch the pre-start, but was it run under UFD rules? Commentator seemed to suggest it was, but then three boats came back and the CB flew X flag...
