Hi everyone, I recall from an earlier thread that there was a sailing club offering a mid week "summer" membership recently.

(I think it was JimC talking about his club, but happy to be corrected on this).

Does anyone else know of other clubs with a similar offering?  If so, could we begin a thread listing them and any further details you may have e.g. if there is an evening race and what format it might take.  Classes sailed.  Ideas around cost, duties etc

Thanks in advance for any feedback.   Big smile

Frensham certainly did when I was a member there, and I don't think they've changed. Clive?

Correct. And unfortunately, we don't have a black-ball system  Cry

But Wednesday is a general handicap race. Not what Jimbo is really after. And it would really hurt him to see how well an RS100 performs around the cans

General handicap is acceptable, although class racing is always going to be a preferred option.... pursuit races wouldn't appeal though.

And it would hurt me a lot less to witness Clive doing well with a 10.2 rig around the cans, than it would hurt him to use the same rig on the sea in a F6!

But anyway, this wasn't  a 'me-me' post...

I'd imagine there's quite a few people who work away from home in the week where finding a club with some sailing as an option, but isn't going to break the bank, would be welcome break from the chippy, hotel bar, gym or babestation.

it could be a useful thread... who knows?

Winter membership? Redoubt offer a winter membership which some of our lot use, are there many other clubs that offer 'options' then, like winter or jimbo's midweek in the season?

I think most inland clubs offer winter membership.

I sailed at Ogston as a midweek member a few years back when I was working in that area during the week. Managed to borrow a tired Enterbox that went better with the old rags than with a new(er) set I was loaned... After racing meal and social made the week bearable Smile. Wet kit in car till Friday night, less so  Disapprove

LOL  fail to plan, plan to fail...  just getting used to the lower evening light levels and dreaming wistfully of next summer's adventures.

indeed - this is the basis for my question.

If winter membership is an option for a 'lower grade' membership, surely some bright sparks have thought about a summer 'mid-week' membership too?
