take it as hand luggage. it's small and light enough! Do a quick
google for shipping agents you'll get a qiuck reply.

I've only got costs for the other way:

Dear Jack Sparrow,

Thank you for your request to quote on shipping your sail boat to
London.

If sent sea freight the transit time would be between 8-10 weeks and
then approximately 1 week for customs clearance in London, so to have
the boat in London by the 2/3/2006 we would need to ship it around mid
December if sent by Seafreight.

If sent by airfreight there is a 3-4 days transit so we could ship mid
February to have the craft in London for you by the 2nd March.

To send the craft we would have to crate it for either the airfreight or
Seafreight – if the boat is on a trailer we could either include the trailer or
if not on a trailer build a cradle to support the craft in transit – please
advise if the craft will be on a trailer – if so does the size provided include
the trailer.

The crates we make are purpose built and would be 2.4m x 1.5m x 5.5m
with if required a cradle inside the crate to support the sial boat – if there
are sails and masts to go with the boat and you would like to ship these
as well these can be placed either in the craft or the crate – it would
depend on how much was needed to be sent – as the price is based on
volume and not on weight with this shipment.

If sent sea freight we would either send on its trailer or build a cradle and
place the craft into a sea freight container – the cost for this from our
warehouse in Sydney to London would be:

With trailer          ;       AUD$ 4233 ex our warehouse in London includes
customs clearance and making available for collection
With cradle          &nbs p;     AUD$ 4483 ex our warehouse in London includes
customs clearance and making available for collection

If sent air freight we would still need to send in a crate and the cost to the
airport would be AUD$11,906, this is only to the airport and is based on
the volumetric weight of the craft including the crate.

Insurance on the shipment based on GBP5,000 would be GBP125 or
AUD312.50

If you would like to proceed please advise as I would look forward to
assisting you with your shipment.

If you have any questions please let me know.

If your wings are detachable then it will probibly be pretty cheep, theres a pic, (I think it was on the fastacraft website but I can find it right now) that youve probibly seen of a moth in bits in a box not much bigger than the bare hull.

On the other hand, if your wings are perminantly atached your going to be paying for a crate many times bigger and you usualy pay by volume I think.

You could always stuff the spare space with beanie babies and try to flog them at extortionate prices at the other end to try and recoup some of your costs

if there are lots of you going, get a TEU (short 20ft container) and stuff it
with as many Moths as you can. Probably much cheaper per person.

Or get a shipping sponsor to sponsor a UK team

Tanzacat includes free shipping of cats to Tanzania (i think) and Aruba Cat
event price includes shipping and is pretty reasonable.

sponsors are the way to go, but probably difficult if you are on your own

Contact the Contender Class Assoc, they have one or possibly 2 containers going to Perth for our worlds in Jan next year. They were trying to fill the 2nd container the last I heard.

The container(s) are leaving in about 4 weeks. (I don't know exactly as I am not going.)

I've heard tales of about £600 for a container. Your best bet might be to contact the 18 footers and see if anyone is going out to Aus for the new season. You could probably squeeze your boat in with theirs. But cash the guys cheque first!

Sound very strange an ausie wanting to buy a relatively cheep entry level (no offence intended) moth with the supply of second hand boats over there...
