yh hi i own a rs vision and the water in the mast step is very normal as there are drainage holes in the bottom of the mast step this water will drain away when the boat is taken out of the water and the water in the forward compartment drains though the centerboard hole

I asked RS about this when we had our test and they told me that there is a hole at the bottom of the step to allow the water to drain once you take the boat out of the water. The water stays in there whilst afloat but stays below the level or the cockpit floor so doesn't flow out of the step into the cockpit. I note that there have been some comments about the build quality of RS's rotomoulded boats. The only problem I have experienced was with the Holt jammer. I noticed this before it failed and RS sent me a new one, arriving next day, with an SAE to return the faulty one. It took 5 minutes to swap and we didn't lose any time on the water. I can't fault that for service.

Thanks. What happens to water that collects in the mast step?

When stationary some water does enter both the forward and rear parts of the cockpit however as soon as you set off it drains away. Not sure about the physics but it does. The only other time we have experienced any standing water was when we were becalmed and lost virtually all forward motion. |

Yes, but the problem is made worse by the water that comes over the foredeck and via the kite shute...not clever.

Hi, it's been pointed out to me that the Vision has a problem with the
drainage from the forward part of the cockpit. Water enters through the centreboard case and is unable to drain aft because of the solid bulkhead. Anyone have any experience? Thanks Phil |
