AMOS or Fibredon GP14 - what the difference?

   Morning all,

Looking for some advice on GP14’s.  In particular the difference and thoughts people might have over the two FRP GP14’s I’ve come across.

Up to now I’ve had my sight set on the Don Marine Fibredon Mark Iva FRP model, but have since heard of an AMOS FRP boat.

Does anyone know what’s the difference between these two boats and also if one is more desirable than the other?  

Also, without sounding like my wife, what colour does the AMOS boat come in, Ive seen one for sale and from the pictures I think it might have been painted.

	Neither are much good, you'd be much better off getting a holt or speed built built boat and paying slightly more. The build quality of both that you mention is poor in comparison, the fibredon may be marginally better but they both use too many mouldings and suffer joint problems. All three of the Amos boats ive seen have been painted and all have been in poor condition i'm afraid.

	Thanks Paramedic, that's blown me of the water a bit! Think the holt/Speed built boats might be a bit out of my budget thought, although I've yet to come across an early one for sale. To keep the price down I'm looking at something from the early to mid 90's. thanks again

	Hi Rog, would love a wooden boat but too high maintenance for me at the moment, plus I'm told they need to be brough "indoors"/garaged once a year to dry out and I dont have anywhere to do this.

	How much are you looking to spend? 13053 is a wooden duffin mk 2, and looks good in the apolloduck photo. £1100ono. There's a couple more, and one greeny coloured Speed one at £2.5k. I suspect early speed/late holt boats don't tend to be advertised on the association list. Apolloduck is a good place to look though. Theres plenty of GP14s about! 	Looking to apend £1500 give or take a bit. Saw what I now realise was a very decent Don Marine frp, up for £1100 with decent set of sails and combi trailer. But I dithered too long and it went. As said above, with two yound kids I dont have the time to look after a wooden boat nor have the space to store it undercover. All over appollo duck and GP14 association website. I was looking for thoughts of Amos frp v Don Marine frp. I will look out for the hot/speedsail boat, if they come within my price bracket.

	Ok, so would it not be better to spend much less (£600ish) on a decent plastic "training boat" style GP that you know you will lose little or no money on becuase people want them? it depends on what you want the boat for, if you want to be competetive you won't want a single skin boat, but then a poor frp one will be little better.
