it is great fun sailing downwind in them- so much so, it makes the upwind bit all the more painful and frustrating!
There is actually only one significant pillar of disagreement about the RS100 between Fab100 and I- and that comes to small inland round the cans courses- for him and 3 others at Frensham it is worth the compromises and they love it, for me and 3 others at South Cerney was it wasn't and the kite, fun though it could be, was a major PITA and ruined the racing most of the time... so the simple conclusion anyone can draw is as per Rich96's post - sail it and decide for yourself. Neither Clive nor I are 'right' or 'wrong'- it's personal opinion at the end of the day!

350 orders according to the latest (no hype) Press Release- that's pretty good going and shows there's definitely an appetite for this type of simple fuss-free sailing dinghy.

We got our Aero today. Number 1047. Apparently you cannot get a new one before February if you order today. We ordered at the dinghy show "off plan" as it were and delivered six months later. Have not yet put it on the scales to check, but lifted it with an 11 year old down the club to show his dad....
We were out sailing an hour after getting it to the club. Thought it would be sooner but it seems that you get a boat and a kit and then have to put the last few bits together yourself! However, the instructions were clear and it is not as if there are too many bits of rope to deal with. Not like buying a N12! Anyway all the bits were there, and we just have to put the sail numbers on to be legal tomorrow morning.
Mrs M is doing Bart's Bash in it tomorrow whilst the boys go N12 sailing. Tomorrow will probably be a very good indicator of who sails what at a grass routes level in the UK. Will be interesting to look at which classes had the most out. Probably more interesting that a Nationals attendance table or anything like that. I suspect the laser will still have most! |

Hi Jon
I think the juniors will beat any senior boats numbers so my money is on Opi or Topper. |

I'm looking forward to getting mine. I did see the Devotti boat at the dinghy exhibition but the Aero just looks better and is lighter.

Crumbs - I'd say the Zero looks better in every way - rig, hull etc The Aero looks like a great 'cheap' 'beach boat' - probably a bit unkind. The Zero looks like all Devotis - quality. Regardless of the pros and cons of the Dacron sail and high clew boom - it just looks wrong. Sorry. |

Hah! My husband said the same, so maybe you are both right. After all he clearly has better taste in women than I have in men.
![]() Rupert I'm 'expecting' before Christmas with any luck.
