I tagged along with a mate and his college doing a charity round the isle of wight bike ride today. We covered 56 (or it might have been 55 or 58) miles in about 5 and a half hours including stops for lunch and stuff. actual cycling time was 4 hours 18 minutes. I'm going to feel this tommorow.
600 732, will call it Sticks and Stones when i get round to it.
Also International 14, 1318

I wondered why you were selling your boat, guess you wanted a newer one!! Are you going to be at Lee-on-solent?

Hope so, need a bit more sea practice for the nationals .

Not technically a weekend but had a great sail last night. The forecast was correct, no wind during the day then a lovely10-12kts for race time.

Managed to harass the peky phantoms for a long time and beat all but one over the water and was only 16 seconds behind the other on handicap (did get very lucky approcahing the first mark on port though, a lovely gap opened so I took it ).

Medway Dinghy Regatta Saturday and Sunday

Scary stuff on Saturday.  About 25mph and wind over tide made for the sort of conditions which aren't much fun unless you are completely on top of them.  We were just sailing round trying to survive although even then we did lead the fast fleet for a while going down the river by kite.  A rather spectacular pitchpole put an end to that though.  The 4000 isn't as easily pitchpoled as some due to a lot more buoyancy under the bow than the Bethwaite designs but we managed to negate that by blasting full tilt into a mudbank.

Sunday was better, still plenty of wind but we made things a little extra interesting by arriving in plenty of time for a 10:30 when the start was at 10.  So we threw the boat together and started almost 10 minutes late with the mainsheet all twisted and then we broke something and sailed an extra loop in the course.  We finished knackered and last.  Slightly less wind in the afternoon produced the best racing.  We sailed too deep on the first downwind and rounded nearly last but carried a great gust down Gillingham Reach to bring us up to the fleet again and on the tail of one of our rivals who sails a 59er.  The next few legs had a lot of 2 sail reaching and we despatched the 59er and a couple of 29ers which brought us close behind a well sailed ISO which we passed on the beat and we could see the 5000 only just ahead.  We couldn't catch them but got back feeling it had all been worth it and wondered how many days it would take to recover.  And as I write this on Monday I can tell you that it'll take more than one!

I had that view too today, as I slid gracefully out the back on a run.  The lovely thing sailed off some way on her own without me, before deigning to capsize......
the same, but different...

Sailed Andrewst's 3000 on Saturday.  Psycho winds on Medway, v gusty and lumpy sea, sadly I didn't have the trap experience.  But wow, is she a nice boat.  So sorted and acceleration...   Well that's good, to say the least.  Thanks again.

Sunday.  Raced an RS200, nice winds.  Some great, grin plastering reaches.  Oh and my backflip.  Tacked, grabbed the jib sheet, kicked out to flatten the boat whilst pulling the jib... however, my foot didn't quite reach the toestrap... the sense of oh sh*t as the legs went up and I got a great view of the hull... not the view you should get whilst sailing.
