couldn't agree more, was an awesome sail.  Some of it reminded us vividly of sailing in the breeze at tiger and the mad panic fun we had there.  But i do believe that the rig is for ratface and i so it is set up for about 20 ish

Took the 200 out and yes we did well with not one capsize.

Some 25 boats out on the water with 20 of them capsizing we did well. But a few changes are now needed on the boat as the helm kept moaning. First to change has got to be the main sheet system, another block required!!

anyway, enjoyed it and finished mid fleet without using the kite!

me too ross, but it is now very shiny and all the holes i knew about (and some i didnt) have been filled and most have been faired (one of them needed more layers of gelcoat than the rest) so i should be sailing as soon as i can get the boat back to the club, im thinking that until that time ill be 14 sailing.
600 732, will call it Sticks and Stones when i get round to it.

took the 14 out today with the sister, so only 17 or so stone to keep it flat, wind varied from 3knts to 15knts.

started with me taking the main, decided to let her try taking the main(at this point we were able to twin upwind), got the boat motoring but then took a swim to windward, had a few more 2 sail runs downwind and sailing upwind to get her used to the boat. then went for the kite, and we got the boat going, at the other end of the lake in seconds, turned the boat around got a monster upwind run, planning the lot. went for another run downwind with the kite, halfway down my kite pole ended up on the side of a wayfarer...

if it performed that well upwind without a t-foil i cant wait to find out what it would be like with one

today was real dogs of the chains weather at Dovestone sailing club for the rs300 and lightning opens. we had 6boats turn up. we all launched in a very shifty and gusty wind. capsizes all around. one guy pulled out his mainsheet block from the deck whilst another went in as it was too much.

the remaining 4 of us battled. i led the race for a few seconds after getting a perfect bear away at the top mark and gaining a 50metre lead only to go in to windward courtesy of a shift and lull. i righted it and carried on in second only to have another shift bin me in. righted it again and worked my way from last to 3rd and gaining on the leaders. until going down a deep reach there was a monster gust. naturally i bore away and eased the sheet. never been so fast in a sailboat in my entire life. then BANG, boom snaps. doh. then the rescue driver cut up my racing main with his prop and also cut the halyard even when i told him there was no need

anyway, it was a good event which we abandoned after just the one race. the wind was so shifty and in the gusts the halyards whistled so pretty windy. highly eventful challenging and great fun for both racers and spectators. thanks go to dovestone SC for the day

I have sailed at Dovestone twice, and on both occasions I have had the same weather blowing in from the moor's.

This year we had the 'pleasure' of one of the postponements being preceeded with 'Its a 7 gusting to 9 and above - I think another cup of tea is in order'

its because the wind gets funneled down the valleys (today). just there are 3 valleys meeting at the lake and so you get gusty, swirling winds.

beautiful area though.

I took the 3K out today with a novice lightweight crew who got a little scared  . I bodged a longer tiller extension reefed the main and soloed it. I was screaming along on a reach when a gust hit me and I was through into the main where there is now a huge Ross shaped hole.

Twas a beautiful wipe out, mind. Just peeved off my camera was out of battery.

Boat was then sailed in with the jib unfurled and a rather heavyweight crew from the rescue boat* hiking- still shifted a bit!

Probably a good day to be on rescue; I reckon if I hadn't we'd have been daft enough to go out and would have broken the boat/ourselves.

Wouldn't really call your crew earlier a "novice"- yes, a novice at trapeze crewing, but he's not a bad helm in his Cadet, and he managed to keep the Pico upright with full rag out.

*at this point, the 3k was the only boat on the water, bar the windsurfers.
