We don't need a class association in the UK and we certainly won't go to NZ for class racing or international events.   I see this as using the Farr hull as a base design, deck layout should be personal preference as should be whether you want a kite or not. The only other standard should be mast length  then do what you want.   Just because the British dinghy sailing scene is stuck in the CA system with open and national events doesn't mean we have to.

they'll similar enough to get 'class racing'- a bunch of new boats you guys control the build on, sounds 'fairer' than most class racing in soggy heavy 1980s lasers with toilet tissue sails against the latest 4-5k over priced heapa sh*te.

Booty.... Study the structure under the foredeck a bit more, then think. I'm planning on cutting this in half. And ask yourself where is the structural strength now going to come from whilst maintaining the low weight the boat currently has. If you can think of an answer, start a yacht design business because you are at least as good as Bruce Farr was when designed the 3.7.

End plating Isn't relevant in this discussion as there is no jib. But buy butting up a 90 degree surface to a wing ( a foredeck in sailing) you improve the aerodynamic efficency of the wing by stopping the flow from exiting off the end in a turbulent fashion. That's a very simplified discription there are plenty of pages on the Internet that explain it better.

Build the boat as is, from the plans, you'll love it. Better still come and sail my one first.
