Ross old boats are ,how do I put this, old. If you don't look after your boat, smod or development, they will be old

30 years old and still going strong, the 200 is much newer than Flat Stanley.

You have to be joking. The 200 was barely doing 6 knots upwind, FS would be doing 8-9. Downwind I would have been doing 17-18 knots, where as the top speed was 14.7, 13 knot 10 second average which is respectable but nothing special.

Took the Vareo out ... Unsuccessfully!!

I had a good laugh, but 90% of the times I put the kite up, It would take off, turn into a cloud of spray ... and within about 10 seconds would be on its side!!

Managed to almost turtle during one wipeout ... this is on a 5 ft deep gravel pit! Thought the mast was broken for a second with the speed it actually turtled!!

Too gusty, and I'm too light.

Bring on the Solution!!

I don't think the 200 is arguing to be a skiff though is it? The 200 is a good boat to sail though, well that can be proven by the size of the fleets that it gets.

i took the 600 out with the diddy rig on saturday, i managed to get to the windward mark (hill head bouy, at last a decent beat, more than 1 mile) but the chop was too short to give me time to even get a foot into the foot loop for the reach and i was knackered by then after 4 capsizes on the beat. so i spent a while capsizing near hill head bouy ttrying to get to yachtmaster bouy and did one spectacular pitchpole. i dropped the main down half way down the mat and ran back to the club. on the beat i had everything abve the second batten on the diddy rig twisted off like a windsurfer and i was still belting it upwind.

today i took my sister out again and she managed to trapeze and helm and take the mainsheet but she can't seem to get the hang of SMALL tiller movements, its a big rudder and its going bloody quickly, not like a laser. then after lunch we had a safety boat refresher course, which was also good.

edit: oh at some point i put my foot through the window of my training sail on saturday and snapped 1 batten in it and pushed 2 others out through the front of the sail, both sails are going in to the sail makers to be patched up where they rub on the shrouds.
