In a reversal of fortune we won our class at East Coast Week - surprise, surprise it was breezy. Too breezy sometimes, with one race in 35 knots.. But I'm happy because most of our big gains were upwind not down.. 17 boats in class.

Chic What went wrong not to make down hill gains in 35 knots??? This is where the boat, as all know, is where the gains are to be made. As all keep pointing out the Proj has a good ballast ratio and in the breeze up hill with a blade and five beefy ones on the rail they can go very fast indeed sea state dependant. We seem to regulary overtake a corby 25 in conditions as these. The proj does not have to be a lead mine to win! |

But it does need a good blow and flat(ish) water to save
its time on the clunkers. |

Detente, give us a break! We did make gains downwind, but the biggest
ones were made upwind.. Wind was variable with anything between 7 and 35 knots. We weren't planing all the time downhill. Gusty 35knots means boat gets flattened occasionally in the chop upwind. Be happy for us! |

Tim, sorry to hear that Upstart has to go. Sounds like the fellowship is dissolving and I may soon be alone! We have no plans to sell.
Can I ask what new Upstart will be??
