LOL love it!
especially including my favoured method for disposal- note that it is merely "towards" France, the range doesn't have to be good enough to get him there. Mid channel is fine.

Just made my complaint to the BBC. Used up all the characters available, and that wasn't enough LOL

Now I've got his sinking feeling in my stomach as I prepare for Simmons' imminent commentary on the 470 Medal races.

(Nice to hear mention of expected Weymouth sailing conditions on the Radio 4 weather bulletin earlier this morning)

The BBC fouled up the cycling road race commentary too and David Bond did a really crass report on it for the evening news. Within an hour, the cycling fans were up in arms on his blogg;
Bond changed his blogg text but the comments are still there for our entertainment.

The BBC have comitted to reporting on all sports at this Olympics and that, combined with TV feeds from another company, has left them a bit stretched

They've been trying to contact a friend of mine to help them with the BMX, left it a bit late mind since he's coaching down in Chamonix, he'd have been perfect for them, he regularly produces his own coaching video diaries. It's not as if they haven't had time to plan for this though is it, why wait until this week just gone to try and hire in expert help for something that has been on the schedules for years.

Have any of you been watching the BMX? It's the only other Olympic thing I've bothered with, I'm now wondering if it's too late to take that up at my age. Confused

Received exactly the same word for word reply from the Beeb (excluding your entertaining embellishments of course) so it is obviously a standard "we'll respond because we have to, not because we want to" type communique.

Don't get me started on David Bond. I thought Mihir Bose was a poor sport editor, but why the Beeb decided to replace him with Bond is beond me. Maybe he is okay behind the scenes, but as journalist he definitely sucks...

Knowing the roads they were travelling on very well I did find it amusing how often the commentators got "lost".

But the UK team cycling experts on that blog are hilarious. The reoccurring theme is that the Pom team did a perfect tactical job, came 29th because their competitors didn't help them, which also has the logical corollary that the people who formed the leading group were a bunch of idiots with no clue about tactics but who somehow came away with the medals. Interestingly that was exactly the impression I was given by the BBC commentators.
It all reminded me of on the beach "expert" sailors complaining about race leaders not covering...

Rob Walker - please! Is this guy a real journalist, or a comedy reporter from "The Day Today"? I saw him interview BA after the medal race on the water and it was totally crIngy - he was literally hanging off Ben (who was obviously in lots of pain) and the body language was screaming "get the f**k off me!". Horrible to watch, as are the knobish over- enthusiastic interviews with people on the Nothe. 1/10

Rob Walker is awful. How come you gave him  as much as 1/10?

and as for the BBC cutting from shots of good tacking duel in the mens 470 between the Oz & Brit boats to Walker chatting to the parents of the sailors on shore spoiling the best bit for both the viewers and the parents.........

Truely hard to believe

No, can't agree Rob Walker's that awful.  Could do with knowing more about sailing maybe, but he's very kind to people, especially those hurting after a disappointment, always quick to point out the positives.  It's not a job a cynic like me could do, that's or sure, especially his interviewing on the Nothe; mind you, that really is over the top at times!

Edit: probably more objectionable and irritating are the unnecessary cut-aways during racing to chat to spectators when we just want to see what's going on on the water.  Obviously Rob Walker gets caught up in that but I guess it's not his call?
