Too much wasted weight. There was a period before foam sandwich and high performance fibres when there was a place for the things, especially on offshore racers, but those days were long gone when they used then on the Topper boats...

No point: given a well engineered boat without rules compromising the interior layout there is high performance structure everywhere those separate space frames went.
