I finally got the Moth airborne - well some of the time. I've not sailed since before xmas and that was in no wind, my god it's an animal! Unfortunately the day ended on a downer, being towed back because I couldn't make progress upwind due to a broken kicker, and the control rod on the foil coming out of it's fitting, meaning I was stuck with maximum lift so the boat kept doing bunny hops, coming up out of the water then crashing back down. Mail order new bits Monday, fix it Saturday, try again Sunday - I feel like a proper Mothie already!

went out solo in the cherub in a bit of wind not much but i was hopeing it might be enough to get me out on the wire did finally manage it on the last leg going down to the finish got out on the wire went to sheet in hard and dropped the sheet went flying backwards and had a nice swim! god I'm glad i bought a steamer, but at least i can now say i have helmed from the wire not bad considereing i rigged up some tiller extensins from two old broom handles some 3mm robe and some tape!

HEY THEY WORKED BUT THEY WERE A LITTLE BIT SLOPPY BUT I WAS RUNNING LATE I I DIDN'T GET UP TO THE CLUB TILL LATE SO JUST WENT OUT IN THE SAFTERY BOAT AND TOOK SOME PHOT'S AND A FEW VIDS THEN DIDN'T START RIGGING TILL MOST PEOPLE HAD STARTED LUNCH MISSSED THE START BY ABOUT 2 MINS BUT CAUGHT UP WITH SOME OF THE VISITING GP'S FOR MOST OF THE RACE UNTILL A NEAR CAPSIZE AND THE BIG SWIM!
*edit sorry about the caps typed half ofit before i looked at the screen and couldn't be bothered to start again! plus i'm also on my fourth bottle of wife beater! make that seventh err. eighth please note that when i sail single handed i don't use the kite as i don't have enough hands plus the sailing secatery moans about me not having a single handed py but as i see it if i sail with two sails i have less than half my sail area so i should be ok sailing of my normal py of 1050 Edited by landlocked |
