I think it is the responsibility of the sailors to ensure their boat is in class as required by the SIs. That means you get your sails measured.

you must be kidding mate! the timing of their statement alone was more incendiary to the debate than almost anything else, let alone the reasons for making that statement just then - which I wont attempt to guess at here {edit, sorry - no hard feelings Jimbo, but that nearly made me spit my coffee out]

No offence taken mate :-)
Their statement seems very clear, its timing aimed at this fracas - I could be totally howling at the moon, but the subtext I read was that someone should have known better than try and blag this one through. Maybe they already knew the answer- as the statement says 'it has been discussed before'. Read into that what you will, but the fact that the sails are seemingly Not measured and Not declared out of class at the entry, well you could take that as a calculated move on the part of 5habby 5ailing Limited or whatever they're called. well you might be right, but there are other possible scenarios and maybe some questions for the association.

Well I've been trying hard not to read a positive in to the absence of a negative, and will continue to do so. I would be much happier to see a definitive statement....but I'm guessing that won't happen now.

TBH, I get the feeling the big wide world does not much care about the mumbling on here.
Either you're involved and feel agrieved, in which case protest through the proper channels, or it's just chit-chat among bystanders. |

Are Speed Sails going to be at the Dinghy Show? If so, maybe they will display the Fireball sails for us all to take a look at and wonder what all the fuss has been about. I'm taking bets that they look like Fireball sails, act like Fireball sails and that I, for one, won't be able to tell the difference.
Yes, I care (a little, anyway) that they wen't measured/are illegal in the class, as the rules are supposed to be what keeps us from a total free for all, whether class rules or the ISAF ones, and I've enjoyed this thread, but I think maybe some are over estimating the weight it has in the dinghy world and the influence over the opinions of industry professionals. |

Contradiction in terms there Rupert, there is absolutely nothing 'professional, or industrious' that I've ever been witness to in the dinghy 'business'.
