I was going to say "it's a 5oh, why wouldn't they want adjustability?" but then noticed they're turning blocks (the actual sheet blocks are further outboard and fixed). So I'll go with guess B- that the ends of the track are more secure points to actually screw something in, but the centre of the track is where they'd rather the block is?

if you slide the track further back the stopper bobbles hit the blocks earlier and as such the pole stays further round. I will probably be told i am wrond now, we are still struggling to get our head round the set-up. Its the most technical boat i have ever owned!!! |

Then that's definitely the pimpest way I have ever seen for adjusting a figure of eight knot and a bobble

That's pretty standard in symmetric spinnaker boats. I know we used to have the same in the Kestrel and the Osprey.

Actually Neptune...Yes! Its more acurate and can be adjusted between races. Otherwise you would be un-tying kite sheets between races.

Pierre, New kite sheets are definitely on the Menu in the next few weeks, courtesy of Bov (Ian Turnball) just need to sort some more dosh out (i have a CST carbon pole and a one off carbon boom to order/pay for) They will look Pimp and be of a smaller diameter. The current ones are chunky and too heavy in the boring stuff. However when my brother was crewing they ticked the box as he has very soft lady like skin and he didn't want to hurt his little paws to much (bender) Now i am crewing i was thinking about tapered fishing line...

Good man. I use a 6mm main on my Osprey. You feel no pain at all.
Same for the Genoa sheets and same for the the kite, tapered to 3.5 mm. Nice one with the carbon pole. I hadn't realised how light they were until I compared with my alloy one. Carbon boom is a must. Not only pimp, but so much less painful and noisy on the head. Mind you, it'll make bugger all difference to me until I lose a couple of stone. PS. Why is Neptune commenting on this? He only has one sail and one piece of string on his boat. |

That's right one sail - but one string? Pimp club has a history of SMOD's - Merlinboys 5oh is probably the first proper boat to draw much interest.
