Drifted out to the start line, decided to drift back in again, thought the wind was filling in so drifted back towards the start line, the wind wasn't filling in, so drifted back in and went home.... Oh, and forgot to put me bung in (oops)

First time a race has been abandoned after starting in living memory. Shame as we had 70 boats on the water, including 50 Lasers.

Bummer Dave.  Very disappointing

We just went drifting around the Solent from Chichester (no chance of gettting to Brighton). Thank god the yot has a motor.   Ended up in Port Solent for saturday night. Moored virtually outside  Lloyds/'spoons, a few stiffeners, then curry 3 doors down, then back to 'spoons.  There must be f'all to do around that area on a saturday night, because the place was jumping. It was highly enertertaining !!!

Hangover prevention = half pint of cranberry juice with a couple of vodkas at the end of the night.  Worked a treat although I did appear to have some balance issues.  The cranberries probably weren't fresh enough......

not sailing related OR over the weekend...

went to a farm today with some young kids, well they says it a farm but was more like a zoo.

during a 'hands on' session i got the chance to hold a monkey, all was great for a few minutes with it climbing all over me then,

it goes and SLAPS me in the face

i got beaten by a monkey

i had a very expensive day on the water on saturday. firstly in the dinghy park i worked out that the only way i am going to be able to get my diamond wires the same tension is going to be to get a new set or a second bottlescrew (how have other 600 sailors got round the diamond tension problem????). then on the water i snaped a batten about 3 inhes from the mast which subsequently tore the batten pocket. later on i flew off the rack and smacked into the foredeck with my knee. the foredeck came off a lot worse than my knee, there is now a 4-5inch crack along the top of the deck and also under the gunnel about 4 inces infront of the rack. all very messy. and to cap it all off, coming into the slipway i'd untied my rudder and the helm had gone heavy so i assumed it was up slightly so i dropped the sail and went up the slipway and once someone had caught me i walked to the back of the boat to lift the rest of the rudder up only to har a horrible crunching noise. when i got off and had a look the rudder was all mushed up in the stock and when i lifted it out it came off in my hand leaving 2 inches of blade in the stock.

and so i spent today packing up the boat to take it to the menders. ill have to get a claim form tommorow.

600 732, will call it Sticks and Stones when i get round to it.
