How about a video - I think they work alittle like the ready rings http://www.mustoskiff.com/videos/wire2wire-tack.htm When you go out the hook is not connected to the elastic in the convential way so the hook swings down giving you something easier to hook onto. http://www.mustoskiff.com/pimp-my-skiff/traps.htm Different method of application but same outcome. The ring on a lazy hook is welded to a small tube. The tube allows it to rotate around a length of rope without twisting the whole trapeze setup. There is normally a 20mm block on the top end of the rope (i spliced mine into a bit of 6mm core so its easier to attatch) and then at the bottom end of the rope there is a bobble with a bowline or some sort of knot underneath for the elastic to attach to. When the trapeze is pulled out at an angle, the hook automatically falls to the correct position to make hooking on quicker and easier. It stops the ring from facing in towards the boat which can sometimes lead to you hooking on to just the elastic, and then consequently going for an unexpected swim. Here are some pics I got earlier. Edit: How do you get flickr pictures to work on here? Mine dont seem to want to show up so i have to keep switching back to photobucket. Edited by s.a.l.t.y |
