I was going to reply bring back wooden ones but I think that is a step too far, even though most of the Holt boats would have started life with them

My Holt boat still has a wooden mast. If fact there is very little metal on her at all.

yep tufnol blocks and 1956 original Ratsey & Lapthorn early terylene sails. oh and a cotton spinaker with holes sewn in to let the air through like in old parachutes. and a sliding seat which I have offered the chance to grumpf to become an honary planker on but he has gone quiet on that. Of course he will be search for all forms of ignititon before he gets near the wood. Incidentally the original A Rater rig was bamboo
