pinnacle free is pretty good, prob better than movie maker but you need to buy the codec pack to able to output in anything other than mpeg2 I think
Everything I say is my opinion, honest

A warning lesson from me on how not to attach your gopro to your boat.  After reading a few threads I took the advice of attaching a leash to the case handle on my gopro and the camera was attached to my boat with a Manfrotto Superclamp (complete overkill) unfortunately something went wrong and the clamp came off the rack, either through impact from another dinghy's boom or from water pressure as it was getting dunked.

Either way, once it was detached from the boat it simply ripped the handle off of the case.  If anyone wants a free gopro there's one at the bottom of Foremark Reservoir.  Slightly waterlogged but with some epic footage on the card.  Cry

Case handle? My go-pro doesn't have a case handle. I have my leash tied to the hinge on the waterproof case door. Is that what you mean?

Sorry, I meant the black handle that snaps the case shut.  I couldn't see a way of threading a cord though the hinge on mine.

I drilled a 2mm hole on the clear case close to the hinge and put a bit of 1.5mm kite (the flying kind) line which is solid dyneema through it to create a loop onto which I spliced/ cow hitch a longer bit of 2.5mm D12 Dyneema that I lash to the boat.

I guess you could use strong fishing line instead of the kite line.

I haven't broken a mounting yet but know that if I did the camera will not be lost.

Any chance you can post a picture of how you've done it in case I get another one.  Without mine to look at I can't visualise how you've done it without affecting the waterproof integrity of the case.

Couple of options. Spliced dyneema around the bolt;

or small shackle around the bolt

Neither can pass over the end of the bolt.

Funny you should mention that. This is my 2nd GoPro. The first was knocked off the boom but saved by the tether. As you can imagine it's not easy to sail with a GoPro swinging from the end of the boom and I dropped the bloody thing trying to untie it. The week after GoPro released the floaty door.

DOH Ouch

I have been trying to mount the gopro on my 100 since getting it back on the water. Last night i got some decent footage with it mounted on the tiller but it is mainly a view of the cockpit.  Upwind you can see the horizon in front of the boat from time to time but downwind the bow is so high that you just see the odd wave crash over the wings.

Any ideas? I want to make a proper transom A-frame or something but dont really know how to mount it without drilling holes.

I havent yet bought a handlebar mount type fitting so last night it was on the head cam mount lashed to the tiller with lots of tape! Seemed to work quite well and I will probably do the same for the quarter tonner when that goes back in the water.  Saves spending more cash on the handlebar mount.
