Looks like a classic case of dropping the main sheet  That could cause some serious problems in a boat like a 49er

Are you guys talking about the 49er shot?  I'm pretty sure they haven't dropped the mainsheet, just sheeted out to bear away down a wave.  the main would be much further out if he had dropped it.  (and they would probably be swimming....)

Thats why we helm skiffs isnt it! C'mon lads, who wants to do the main upwind, and then effort the kite up and down and Heave it downwind? while the helm steers upwind and just "holds" onto the slack mainsheet downwind.............   Not saying we have it that easy but I would say its a 60/40 split with the crew work. Clasic example:

-Many thanks goes out to all of my sponsors.
Ignore my user name, my views are of a 12ft skiff

Why sail anything longer than 12ft ehh   & despite popular belief, its actually quite comfy in that mode! just loop in both feet, bend knees as the bus comes down and carry on - not harsh banging like a 49er gets!! Just smoooth, well unless you find urself with the No1 rig up in monsterous waves!
