Come on GFR I know you are excited but lets not get carried away; very few dinghys hit 20 knots even in perfect conditions; I doubt your hash up came anywhere near that ...

... even the likes of that Sten guy, likely he'd get this faster round a course than he would his own boat, he certainly aint going to pitch pole it.

Now you are talking BS ... less drag, more leverage & more power ... I think he'd be happy in his own boat.

For what it's worth I think the fact you have gone wide gives you a chance of some resonable performance; this is where the RS100 has failed as they dont have the leverage to carry the rig which is why they seem to be making smaller & smaller sails.

I hope you develop this to meet your needs but lets not start talking it's performance up too much eh Wink

Yes I know and I was careful not to BS and claim 30 or anything stupid, but when Ash shot off it was windsurf board speed it couldn't have been far off, I'm not going to claim it, hence saying I 'bet', but it was bloody quick I wish there had been something else to compare it with other than a dart 15 that had been out earlier and it was certainly matching what that had been doing only in a much more spectacular way. (Darts cut through, this skips over make loads of fine spray) You had to have been there to see it.

There's another forum guy who was there, quite a competent yottie finished 5th in the round the Island race on a smallish boat. here check what Lostboy had to say he took some pics as well..

Well, that's all very interesting but I will only be convinced when I see this device raced round a course against other boats. RS 300's look very quick on their own with their low drag and little wake but inland and round a course it can be a different story. Seriously, how about the Bloody Mary? You could have a bucket for spectators to throw loose change into. I would travel to see that.

Can it?  I dont think there are many if any boats that are as quick round an inland course then a 300.  Especially of the single sailed hiking variety. I certainly only struggled against well sailed Phantoms on PY.. especially on a small lake.

Well done Graeme,
I still cant quite believe the brilliant photo as it does look quick!!!!And 2 up. I suppose I am left wondering if one up could have handled it as the Vortex main and added jib look quite large for a single hander???
I am so pleased you are proving us doubters wrong......

Lets see some GPS tracks before we get too excited by performance.

In the meantime, congrats for pulling it off. Took balls to put your money where your mouth is and I'm pleased that its working out for you.

All this talk of lifting a hull? Does this now make you a cat sailor?? Wink

Oh good grief people. There is a lot to do to work up boats and get them debugged. Give it time. Time will tell. I think it took at least 6 months club sailing before I had a reasonable picture of the strengths and weaknesses of my Plusplus, although obviously a serious development program will pick this things up a bit more quickly.
