I wonder when the 10.2 sailor(s) at the just finished Europeans decided to change to the 8.4 rig. Was it when they saw the wind forecast for the weekend at the last minute or was it when they saw there were no other competitors using the same rig?

I'm sure it was nothing to do with any RS class....went back a fair while I think, maybe the Toppers in the early days?.

But wouldn't that add to the confusion Mark?  Better to know in advance if you've got someone to race against or not... of course, it wasn't an issue before the (concept of the) rule change as everyone raced together. 

It's an interesting point about the IJ... have ISAF softened on this with other classes?  Sounds like a  Thumbs Up if they have, as at least some smaller classes can off the ground.

I guess if I do I could decide what rig to use on the first day of the regatta and not have to decide this far in advance. Well I would hope that would be an option.

Just the way it was set up I guess - or rather the template was just taken from another class. We certainly had to fill it in on the on line form. Would be useful to know , though.
