Well I'm 250 miles behind in a similar position with the same challenge, but this is nothing compared to the hell I had going up the coast.

You seem to be going much faster than me with what looks like a Code 0 up. Us "Sans Options" boats only have the stock jib Cry

Reckon you are still the leading forumite though.

And it looks like we have more of the same for the next few days at least.
What could possibly go wrong?

Yes, trying to balance getting some east in versus keeping up with the wind angles. Going for another push east tonight, but trying to keep speed up.

Not really having a great time. Seem to be stuck in almost no wind until at least late tomorrow and just discovered its quicker to not use the spinaker in 4knots of wind. Losing positions rapidly so just changed to heading east and hoping.

I see your speeds are varying between 2.4 knots and 16 knots.

How are you enjoying (not) the snakes and ladders up the coast of South America?

Bit of a shock after the Southern Ocean....

Really struggling to pick a route thru' the holes now, just taking a wild guess!

I just can't see a way past this system. If I head north I'll be in the middle of it for a few days. North west will see me in it for a day then battling headwinds, or head east knowing I won't outrun it but the system may collapse at some point enabling me to go north. oh decisions.

If its any consolation, just such a system made me go into the coast. You going to get those headwinds anyway. However the forecasts kept changing all the time and I suspect I would have done better to stick with it going roughly the route that Dougal took. I don't know if that was Dougal's masterly tactical skills or a bit of luck.

Well it's nice to see that my plan would have worked - had I not stayed with friends for the Bloody Mary and made no progress for 24hrs.

Serves me right for getting in a real boat I guess...

I think I'm glad to be in the east though.

I was kind of forced into it - to head west of the Falklands I would have had to tack in the early hours of the morning and that just wasn't going to happen.  So kind of planned I guess!  I got stuck further west than I intended when it crashed one night, but overall I don't feel too bad about where I am.
