I wish I could take the credit James, but its not my doing.
The 'mermaid's tail' pattern is the result of the two grades of non-slip - grippier where you're feet spend most of their time and smoother at the back and on the centreboard case. It won't show up so well in white of course, but I think it looks funky!

Um, about 6 weeks hopefully give or take a little bit, although it will still be in 'snagging' phase at that point. You're very welcome to have a sail once I get it.

Cheers - When you've put the first scratch on it though.

Will there be an open day with the chance of sailing the boat perhaps?

Hi Matt - Yes there will be plenty of opportunities. We do need some time first to get the fit-out and rig optimised after the first production ulls are produced but I'm as keen as anyone to see the first reactions to Icon. We think it will surprise many... well it will if we have got it right ! We are not giving everything away either just yet - otherwise there will be very little to say when Icon is formally aunched. As soon as possible we will be organising some 'try an Icon' days and boats will be available to visit clubs that have a particular interest in the boat. Mike L. |

Hi folks,
There is now a Yahoo Groups page setup to discuss the development of the Icon.
I would urge anyone interested in the boat to register with the group (it takes less than a minute). This is YOUR opportunity to try to influence the final spec, ask questions and give feedback in a focussed environment.
Some things are now fixed, but there is still much to decide. So if you're thinking this could be the boat for you, this is a great chance to make it just the way you like it.

How do you start off a new class in terms of equipment rules?
Will the Icon have a defined hull weight with correctors?
Will the manufacturer have a veto on changes to fittings etc?
It must be hard to decide where development stops and SMOD begins.
How do you limit the risks in terms of later boats moving the goalposts?
I'm not personally looking for a kiteless boat, but I think this could turn out to be a milestone.
