He could probably turn in his grave for all this nonsense and slur to his legacy; but rise from the dead and put fingers to keyboard to set out the facts and provide clarity, nope not even the late and great Mr Estaugh can do that.

It's clearly not nonsense and neither do i feel it is it a slur to the Speed Sails legacy. It does however present questions for the future and present brand ownership? Whilst the vast majority of people do compete for fun (at all levels up to world championships) winning one of these winter PY events is and always should be a BIG deal. Regardless of the fallibility of the PY system to win one in amongst all the dirty air and usually overtaking marginally slower boats throughout the race requires a sail that could probably be debriefed as near perfect. Hence the BIG deal.

That article puts the issue of dodgy sails into perspective, and apparently not totally off topic.

So, just to be clear on this, are Speeds, Northampton Sailboats and Purple Marine owned by Farzad Rastegar, the man behind Laser Performance Europe? The Sailboats website suggests not, but it may be out of date.

Here a link to the whois record for the domain name... it appears to either be registered to a sole trader, using 'Northampton Sailboats' as trading style; or the record has not been updated accordingly.

http://www.nominet.org.uk/whois/lookup?query=sailboats.co.uk

IF it has been bought out by another third party, (FR or anyone else...) why would the acquirer not update the domain ownership records of a primary business asset, (being a web based retailer), that they have bought?  Odd.

Here is the whois record for Speed Sails- as I understand it, purchased from the administrators as part of their arrangements by Northampton Sailboats.  Again why the lack of details for the current registered owner of this domain?  One can only assume it is to protect the privacy of an individual, as surely no one has anything to hide in something as cottage as the dinghy industry?
