So that's how you are doing it!  Does that count as receiving outside assistance?  Can I protest?

What are you going to do when the race is over, go round again or make your wife get up in the night for the next 3 months??

Been out for the day. Drove to Somerset to buy and pickup a new-to-the-family dinghy for my wife and I to race. That was my payback - permission to purchase:)

Dougal, I see we are both in the mad dash to make the wind line now. If I'd been able to pay more attention during the day I would have preferred to be a bit closer, so that I don't have to sail such tight angles to make absolutely sure I make it. I also moved up to 9439 during the afternoon, the highest I've ever been. I suspect we will lose places in the next 12 hours though.

It's actually worked out a whole heap better than I thought it would.  I think the site crash the other night helped me after all!!

I am also the highest placed I have ever been, despite work getting in the way today.  I agree though that we have a difficult 24 hours coming up.

Probably not very exciting for most on here - an Albacore. I needed something that worked inland, could take my weight at the back (very few double handers seem to be able to cope with a heavy helm) and didn't have the complication of spinnaker. Never sailed one, so hoping I made the right decision.

Who needs a spinnaker especially if you are sailing it with the wife, one more thing to be nagged about when she drops it in the water Wink

Does it have an autopilot for all of the mid race nappy changes?

You should enjoy that.  And at least it is not a Solo!  I did notice a Solo sailer loitering on this thread a few days ago, but he appears to have done the honourable thing and b*ggered off after your well put explanation of the realities of life.

Back to the Vendee, I think we are in a half decent position right now - we continued to gain over the last 24 hours when I was convinced we were going to start slipping backwards again.  And we should have a good angle to tack on tomorrow morning to take us North in decent wind for a few days.

Triplets?  Girls?  You have got your hands full.  I have two boys which is pretty easy, they just spend every waking moment bashing 7 bells out of each other.

Sparks23, Sargesail, MustyMongrel, GBR-Jaws, RS700844.

I see your speeds are varying between 2.4 knots and 16 knots.

How are you enjoying (not) the snakes and ladders up the coast of South America?

Bit of a shock after the Southern Ocean....

Well I'm not having the greatest time of it at the mo, but nothing much I can do.  I wish I was a few squares further east, but as it is I'm losing a few places every 10 mins (and have been for days).
