I'm totally screwed now!  Stuck right in a hole which seems to be following me.  Ouch

Edit:  just noticed I was sailing upwind at 0knts with the spinnaker up.  No wonder I lost 900 places in the last 2 hours!

What could possibly go wrong?

Another 2000 places gone because of not being able to change course last night due to the site crashing.  This is ceasing to be enjoyable.

I wondered what was up. I must have been lucky to get in.

I don't think we're in a bad position for the next 36 hours, so will hopefully gain again.

Given the rotten time I've been having (dropping 7000 places) all the way up the coast I'm getting my VR mojo back...

Dougal,

Just captured a virtual satellite image to give us a sense of where we are. The target site on the left is me. I'm hoping most of the people on our starboard are going to hit the headwinds earlier than us and get slowed down. For some reason I'm still loosing places, which I can only put down to being in less pressure.

Where do you get that image?  Can you post a link?

BTW I think east will pay for you....Further back I'm setting up West to minimise the effect of the hole and get a better angle in the trades further up.  Same sort of route as the leaders have taken.

Sargesail,

Here is the link

If you put in your boat name, or any other, it marks it with the target sighting. I just find it interesting to compare your position with the thousands of others.

Interesting.  I think you are right re: us not hitting the headwinds as soon as those out West - that was my reason for keeping East (although i had intended to gybe yesterday evening to keep in the stronger winds).

I think Dougal & RB have been away at sea for to long and missing their wives, they are virtually on top of each other! Wink

I think our wives might be thinking the same thing.

Actually my wife is quite happy that I voluntarily get up in the night when one of our triplet daughters starts crying. Gives me the chance to get a sneaky look at progress in the early hours. Sometimes I think my daughters must be in on it, cause their crying is sometimes perfectly timed :-)
